第一幕·一

约翰和梁皖妮第一次见到他时一样，背着手，昂着头。

他巡视了一眼底下被自己挑出来的新秀演员们，操着一口典型的美式英语，道：“Welcome! Welcome to Broadway. You stand out from a crowd of rookie actors. Your future can be expected!”

约翰慷慨激昂。下面有几个情绪激动的演员叫了几声，跳起来，鼓起了掌。

梁皖妮瞅瞅身旁的两个人，也跟着随意地鼓了几下。

“Your future can be expected!”来到了百老汇，就代表有光明的职业未来吗？梁皖妮感觉并没有这么简单。

有多少演员为了梦想、冲着百老汇这块招牌，来到了这里。每年，百老汇有多少歌剧。可是，其中能被观众记住的，又有多少呢？

等掌声平息过后，约翰继续说：“Broadway has arranged the right opera and roles for you. However, there may be adjustments later. I hope that each of you will live up to expectations.”

不少演员都摩拳擦掌。看样子，他们恨不得立刻就上场，一展风采。

“You'll know the arrangements tomorrow afternoon. Before that, you should go to the hotel and have a good rest.”

听到这，大伙儿都纷纷重新拿起行李，准备前往旅店。

在前往旅店的大巴车上，梁皖妮选了个靠窗的位置，看着外面流过的大楼。

“Hey, what are you looking at?”坐在她身边的一个女演员拍了拍她。

这个女孩戴着一顶棒球帽，妆容很酷。

“This is my first time on Broadway. I'm curious.”梁皖妮回头。

“You'll remember this place sooner or later.”女孩说着，给梁皖妮递了一块软糖。

女孩咽下软糖，说：“My name is Margaret Black. You can call me Mags. Nice to meet you.”

“I'm Wonnie Leung.”

“Asian?”玛格丽特问。

“Chinese.”梁皖妮加重了语气。

玛格丽特有点局促：“Sorry, I can't tell Asian from Asian.”

这时，大巴到了旅店。

梁皖妮随着众人走了进去。

旅店说不上有多么华丽高档。但是百老汇出资的，不会差到哪里去。
